The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX dual WAN integrated router provides an all in one IPPBX solution for the SOHO and small businesses supporting up to 50 extensions – local or remote as well as other PBX features such as Auto Attendant, Hunt Groups, Voice Mail, Call Forward/Pickup, Music on Hold, etc.

    a) IP PBX Trunks

Three types of trunks (ie. telephone technology types) are handled by the VigorBX 2000. These are: SIP Trunks, PSTN Trunks and Custom Trunks.
Up to 12 SIP trunks can be configured and assigned for selected extensions to use. Each SIP trunk can be assigned a “Time Budget” up to 1440 minutes (ie. up to 24 hours) for each day as well as being restricted to the number of simultaneous phone calls that can be made over the SIP trunk. This allows you to control the total duration of all phone calls within each day for each SIP Trunk, and prevents hackers or unauthorised users from creating an extension and making unlimited phone calls.
An Alias feature is available for business SIP trunks. You can set up different Answer modes, eg. Auto Attendant, or Forwarding to Extension, using different recorded messages for each extension. An outsider can call your Alias number and reach your extension directly. Also, when you make a call, you can assign an outgoing number for your extension, such that the Alias number will appear on the CLI of the receiver.
The two FXO ports connect two incoming PSTN lines for the PSTN trunks. These can be assigned for selected extensions to use and can also be assigned a “Time Budget” up to 1440 minutes for each day.

Custom Trunks can be configured to use an existing extension number as a trunk to another PBX system.

    b) IPPBX Wizard

The IPPBX Wizard provides a quick and convenient method to configure the IP PBX. It guides you to set up the extension group, extension numbers, the SIP trunks and required office hours for the Auto Attendant feature.

    c) FXS and FXO Ports

The VigorBX 2000 provides one FXS port that can connect to an analogue phone or fax machine. Through the attached phone the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) configuration can be used to record system and user prompts for the Auto Attendant feature.

The two FXO ports are used to connect two incoming PSTN lines for the PSTN trunk.

    d) Voicemail

The Voicemail feature allows a caller to leave a message when the phone is not answered or is busy. Voicemail messages can be emailed to the person of the phone extension or members of a hunt group if configured, or be retrieved remotely through normal phones.

    e) Auto Attendant

The Auto Attendant feature provides a convenient method to handle incoming phone calls during both business and non-business hours. Incoming callers are greeted by a recorded voice based on the time of day, and the caller can select the required department or user from the configured voice prompts, or dial the extension directly. If the selected extension or hunt group is busy, the caller can be directed to leave a voicemail message or be placed in a queue to wait for the next available person in the hunt group.

The Auto Attendant can also be used to give out frequently requested information, or provide messages for both non-business hours and public holidays.

    f) Hunt Groups

Up to 20 hunt groups can be configured and be assigned a hunt group extension number. Phone calls directed to the hunt group can be configured to dial all the extensions in the hunt group either simultaneously, sequentially or randomly.

Unanswered calls to the hunt group can be directed to another hunt group or extension, placed in a queue or be directed to voicemail for the caller to leave a message. For example if there is an incoming call for the sales department within a company but all the sales staff are already talking on the phone to other customers, then the incoming call can be directed to the technical support department to be answered. Alternatively the incoming call can be placed on a queue and listen to music while they are waiting for the next available sales staff member to answer the call.

    g) Music on Hold

Music on Hold allows the caller to listen to music while waiting in a queue or left on hold in the process of transferring to another extension. Up to 5 music files can be played sequentially to provide up to 5 minutes of music. This feature can also be used to play promotional material while the caller is waiting.

    h) Configurable User Prompts

User prompts are used for the Auto Attendant when handling incoming phone calls, or be used to store music files for the Music on Hold feature.
Up to 50 user prompts can be configured and used by the VigorBX 2000.

    i) Dial Plan

The Dial Plan feature in the VigorBX 2000 provides 3 functions: Digit Map, Speed Dial and Call Barring.

The Digit Map function directs outgoing calls to a required trunk based on the numerical prefix of the dialled phone number.

Speed Dial provides a quick and convenient method to dial the most commonly used numbers along with the required trunk to use. Up to 100 Speed Dial numbers can be stored in the VigorBX 2000.

Call Barring allows certain phone numbers or types of phone calls, such as vicious or anonymous phone calls, to be blocked according to a time schedule.

  • Router Features
  • 1. WAN Connectivity

The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX supports 4 WAN Interfaces, including an ADSL2+/VDSL2 WAN interface, a Gigabit Ethernet WAN interface, 2 x USB ports for a supported USB 3G/4G USB modems.
With between 2 to 4 WAN interfaces connected, they can be configured for Load Balancing or Failover. For example you can have ADSL2+/VDSL2 as your primary Internet connection and have a failover connection over a 3G/4G connection.

    2. LAN and VLAN

The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX has 6 x Gigabit LAN ports and supporting 50,000 NAT sessions.
The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX supports both port-based and 802.1q tagged VLANs. Port based VLANs allow the assignment of a VLAN and IP subnet to each router LAN port. On the other hand, 802.1q tagged VLANs can extend up to 8 VLANs and associated IP subnets to an attached switch.

    3. Quality of Service (QoS)

QoS functions allow the network administrator to set priorities for certain types of traffic to guarantee the required level of performance for data flow. For example real-time traffic such as VoIP or Video over IP can prioritised as these have less tolerance to delays caused by network congestion.
The traffic type can be assigned to each of the three QoS classes and reserved bandwidth allocated.

    4. Firewall

The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX has powerful firewall features including object-oriented SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall, DoS (Denial of Services), CSM (Content Security Management) and WCF (Web Content Filter).

Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) Firewall monitors incoming and outgoing packets at layer 3 (OSI model) and passes or blocks the data packets based on the configuration.
The DoS feature protects the network for unwanted access requests from DoS attackers.
CSM enables network administrators to control and manage IM (Instant Messenger) and P2P (Peer-to-Peer) applications, for instance, to keep network users from accessing inappropriate contents and ensure that network traffic flow efficiently.

WCF classifies all websites into 64 categories, and allows network administrators to select categories to protect the users from undesirable website content. DrayTek uses the CYREN WCF database for its Vigor routers, and each router includes a free 30 day trial license.
The object-based firewall provides flexibility by using Objects in the firewall settings. Objects can created and placed in groups for IP, service type, keyword, file extension, etc. This allows a filter rule to be applied to many IP addresses, reducing number of firewall filters required. In addition these objects and groups can be reused for other firewall settings resulting in reduced amount of work required to create multiple firewall rules.

Firewall rules can be applied according to a Time Schedule to control access to the Internet or network services according to predetermined time slots. Up to 4 time schedules can be applied to each firewall
filter rule. For example social media can be restricted during work hours and be allowed during off work hours in a company.

    5. VPN & SSL-VPN

VigorBX 2000 IP PBX supports up to 32 simultaneous VPN tunnels, of major protocols such as IPSec/PPTP/L2TP, and 16 tunnels of SSL VPN protocol. The dedicated VPN co-processor supports the hardware encryption of AES/DES/3DES, hardware key hash of SHA-1/MD5, and LDAP authentication, and ensures that VPN traffic is secure and performance is maximised.
The SSL technology allows secure Web encryption such as those used for on-line banking. With VigorBX 2000 IP PBX, you can create SSL VPN in Full Tunnel mode or Proxy mode.
Furthermore, since the VigorBX 2000 IP PBX supports multi-WAN of DSL, Ethernet and 3G/4G, you can create VPN Trunking for VPN Load Balance and VPN Backup. For instance, you can use a number of connections to a site to increase the bandwidth, or have a backup connection when the primary connection fails.

    6. Remote Access Management

The VigorBX 2000 IP PBX includes a number of management options to provide both local and remote access to monitor and manage the router.
The TR-069 feature integrates with the VigorACS-SI centralised management system. This can be used to allow system integrators or network administrators to configure, monitor and manage the VigorBX 2000 IP PBX remotely from the comfort of their offices or homes. It can also be used to Auto-Provision the VigorBX 2000 IP PBX remotely by sending configuration data to the router. There are 3 wizards: a Configuration Wizard, a VPN Wizard and a Firmware Upgrade Wizard. These allow network administrators to quickly and easily carry out complex tasks.
Alarm & Log Management features ensure real time notifications and alerts to specified phone numbers or email accounts in relation to any faults or issues of the connected CPEs.
A number of diagnostic functions are also available for the network administrator to monitor and troubleshoot any network issues. These include Data Flow Monitor, Traffic Graph and Syslog Explorer, etc.
Like all Vigor routers, VigorBX 2000 IP PBX supports management options include HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SSH, Telnet and SNMP.
